It's no secret that New York has awesome pizza. What's the best? You'll never reach consensus  I have three favorites. One of these, we visit every time we have new visitors--Grimaldi's. Grimaldi's is an institution. Everyone in New York knows it and has tried it. Some don't think it lives up to it's hype. I do. It's pretty great pizza.

An interesting fact about Grimaldi's, it was sold by the Grimaldi family in 1998. After a recent rent dispute, it moved it's most famous location (beneath the Brooklyn Bridge) to the building next door. Now, the Grimaldi family plans to get back in the game and open a new pizzeria in the old space--Juliana's. I'm excited to see if Juliana's can knock Grimaldi's off my favorites list.

There are now 3 Grimaldi's in New York and other locations in Arizona, Nevada, Texas and New Jersey.

Also, for my fellow NY pizza nerds, one more fact. Patsy Grimaldi learned to make pizza from his Uncle Patsy in East Harlem, in the restaurant that was the first of the Patsy's Pizzeria chain (still pretty top notch).
