I had one of my forever New York favorites for lunch today. I'll let you in on the secret. 99 Cent Fresh Pizza. Is it the best pizza you've ever had? No. Definitely not. But it is really good and is really only 99 cents a slice. Or you can get 2 slices and a drink for $2.75. And let me tell you, after paying exorbitant amounts for everything in this city, that $2.75 goes down so easy.
They have multiple locations and they are all tiny bare bones places (most have no seating) with two guys working at any given time. One making pizzas, one helping customers. There is always a steady stream of traffic, so the pizza is always fresh. They just make cheese pizza after cheese pizza. In. Out. Done. I think every city should have their own version of this gem.
